What's With This Family, 가족끼리 왜 이래 (2014~2015)

Brief introduction :

Soon-Bong(순봉), who was being a faithful father with his life sue his three grown-up children for being undutiful! 

Genre:

Family Drama, Romantic Comedy

Check point:

- Hilarious romantic relationships each children have! (and even the father... !)
- light and warm atmosphere with serious issues.. :)
- let's check out how each character's personality changes over time..!
(most of them are round characters, and grow up although they are adults already lol)
- what is the value of family? (or maybe, how does Korean think about family?)

- Romantic Comedy fans ( you can enjoy various love stories here!)
- Who loves family dramas

- Who can endure long dramas..   it's 50 episodes in total.. (still coming out at this point) .. however, I bet you like it if you start watching, and at some point you will wait for more episodes would come out :)

Let's Eat, 식샤를 합시다 (2013~2014)

Brief introduction :

Several single families as a neighbor promised to have meals together. The divorced single women meet the neighbor from that meal who is mysterious insurance sale man and she feel suspicious about who actually he is..!


Genre:

Romantic Comedy, Mystery, Eating show (먹방)...


Check point:

- Enjoy the "eating show" (먹방) from the characters while you can peep out what Koreans eat!
- Is the Sales man a good guy or bad guy? and what is the cause of continuing mysterious happenings?


Who to recommend?

- Romantic Comedy fans (main characters are all cute in their ways) 
- Fan of Beast, K-pop boy group, especially 윤두준 (Yoon Do Joon)
- Who wants to know what Koreans eat and their eating culture 

Emergency Couple, 응급남녀 (2014)

Brief introduction :

Divorced couple's reunion in the Emergency room while they are working as intern!



Genre:

It's a bit medical drama, but they are more focused about love lines, which makes it less serious while maintaining the genre as 'romantic comedy'.


Check point:

-how the Ms. Mung (the main actress, 송지효) from Running man show act.. lol
and her red hair makes her so pretty without fancy make up!

-Try to figuring out this Emergency couple's history with the little clues they give time to time by flash back


who to recommend?

- those of you who are sick of watching "single men and women fall in love" stories
- Romantic comedy fans (especially loves modern atmosphere)

The Greatest Love, 최고의 사랑 (2011)

I've heard that "The Master's Sun" was quite popular among K-drama fans all over the world. 

So, here is what i brought for you, The Greatest Love!

(Surprisingly, this drama is not so popular for K-drama fans...!)

What is commonality between those two dramas?

- the writers.

They are called Hong sister 홍자매, and they are very famous about their romantic comedy dramas! 

Here is the list for Hong sister's dramas :  

"You are beautiful" 미남이시네요 (2009)

 "My girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox" 내 여자친구는 구미호 (2010)

"The master's sun" 주군의 태양 (2013)

and many others, but i don't think they are easy to get now..

Why do i recommend "The Greatest love"?

-because it's interesting from the beginning till the end.

 (I think The master's sun made "not interesting or not enough" episodes in their beginning and end..)

and it's funny to witness how they use the "props" in this drama. 

some of them were for product placement  advertisement, still those melting into the story line very well !

The main male man character is also interesting figure! 

Don't miss another great romantic comedy :)

Valid Love, 일리있는 사랑 (2014-2015) NEW!

Valid love 일리있는 사랑, just started last week, is worth watching!
I gave it five stars so far :)

The writer is the one who wrote "My lovely Sam-Soon" 내이름은 김삼순 which was one of best romantic comedy drama in Korea, and she nailed it this time as well..!
(You might sense her writing style from several details in the drama and funny personality of female character!)

Since the drama just started, and only 3 episodes came out so far, and it has strong story line with small details or clues that is pleasurable to find.

The main character, 일리 Illy, remind us the girl from the Korean movie "My Sassy Girl", so if you liked that movie, please check this one out as well!

Toy? Korean musician, not a toy

When you think about K-pop, the first thing that comes to your mind might be
K-pop idols or Psy.

However, those are not all we have.

Let me introduce this musician called "Toy" with his newest album.

Toy is kind of pen-name of 유희열 (You Hee-yeol).
He is not a singer, but a composer and musician and he usually make his album with various singers as the form of featuring.

This song is called 세사람 "Three people", and the singer is 성시경 Sung si-kyung who is very famous ballad singer in Korea.

The lyric of this song is about a man who loved a girl that is a girlfriend of his best friend. You will get some of story when you watch the music video.

Toy You is also a judge for the program of "K-pop star" season 3 and 4, and the season 4 is on air right now. Some of you might wondering "who is that guy" and that's Toy, the composer as well as representative for musician based entertainment company :)

(K-pop star is like similar program of American idol except the fact that there are 3 major entertainment companies -YG, JYP, and Antenna music for toy- are judging the participants..! the winner and some talented participants become a member of the company time to time).

Q. What is this blog about ?

A. Here i want to practice my English by writing about my interest which is Korean culture in general. (well that's the subject i can continue to write about haha)

Since the culture itself is very broad subject, it can be anything...!

I might introduce latest or old K-pop or K-drama, or i can explain some issues in here.


Q. What is your plans about it? 

A. I don't have any clear blueprint yet, but i know it will come out as i continue..!

One thing for sure is that, i want to get some questions about 'what you want to know about Korea'. I might get you some answers (in my own way).
